Just completed: The Portishead Amateur Swimming Club polo and T-shirts.

Not all of our orders come from online. As we are based in Portishead we also serve the town and wider community for garment printing.
The Portishead Amateur Swimming Club got in contact about new polos for the teachers and new T-shirts for the volunteers.
The polo shirts required embroidering although the artwork on the previous shirts only existed on the shirts! That means the logo had to be redrawn.
You see, that’s another service Teepig offers. We can design or edit new or existing artwork for your club attire.

Sometimes doing things the old fashioned way is the only way to get exactly what you want. Even though our online designer can be quick and easy to use, with plenty of great garments to choose from, sometimes you need a little advice on what’s best.

Choosing the right polo shirt.

In this case, someone from the club contacted us to ask what polos would be ideal for embroidering on the front and printing on the back. We offered the Gildan Dryblend for its sweat-wicking properties. Standing on the side of the pool can be hot work so a polo that helps you keep cooler would certainly top the pile.
We embroidered the left breast logo and printed ‘Swimming Teacher’ on the back using the sublimation process. The yellow text contrasts very nicely with the black of the shirt. Even the colours of the embroidery was changed slightly from the previous shirts for aesthetic purposes.
The colour chosen for the volunteer T-shirts was light blue. The style was the Gildan premium T-shirt. A decent quality tee that isn’t too thin nor too thick.

The Swimming Club polo and T-shirts were ready within the week!

Printwear & Promotion Trade Show

We made the trip to the Birmingham NEC this week for the annual Printwear & Promotion trade show.

All of our favourite brands and suppliers were there to exhibit the latest products in the industry. Sustainability was the theme of this year’s show. This means brands are producing clothing as ethically as possible with as little negative effect on the environment as possible. Above all, garment quality does not suffer. Contrarily, it seems to be improving.
No company is leading the charge more than Mantis. All of their styles, adult, child and baby, have made the switch to ethically sourced and sustainable materials.

Why we attend

The aim of trade shows is for brands and suppliers to exhibit their products to new customers and to exhibit new products to existing customers.
Since last year’s visit in 2019 Teepig have started offering sublimation printed garments which has very effectively aided what we can offer our customers. We are always looking to improve and add better services to give you exactly what you want.
After this recent visit to the Printwear and Promotion trade show we have come away with a far greater knowledge of garment types and styles. This information we can pass on to you too help you select the best brands and styles for your customised garments.

Tee Jays was a big player this year. In fact several other stands were using Tee Jays T-shirts in their demonstrations. The Danish company produces higher end styles. For example T-shirt, polos, hoodies, soft shell jackets and coats. Tee Jays are also making the switch to organic this year and their new colour ways are already organic certified.
We are adding more Tee Jays styles to our designer page. This is the choice brand for best quality, whether it’s to decorate with your own brand or logo or as a special gift.

Next Level is another impressive brand which we are adding to our designer. Based in LA, Next Level offer something slightly different. Keep an eye out for their ‘sueded’ range. The styles have peached fabric making it super soft to the touch.

At Teepig we love printing art onto T-shirts. Art otherwise reserved for tattoo studios can look really amazing on T-shirts as well. We offer printed Tattoo T-shirts.
If you work as a tattoo artist then maybe you should think about adding new a media to your canvasses. After all, there are many people out there who love tattoo art but for whatever reason – they’re a bit nervous about getting ink, they’ve run out of skin – they want to take something away with them just not as permanent as a tattoo.

Our good friend and neighbour in Portishead, The Black Lodge, is a tattoo studio who have recently asked us to print T-shirts for them. New Product for Online Design – Anvil Tri-Blend T-shirt

The Anvil Tri-Blend T-shirt.

This great T-shirt ticks all the boxes. With its super soft feel and fashionable cut it’s perfect for all casual wear. Because the Anvil Tri-Blend T-shirt is lightweight and soft draping it makes it an ideal T-shirt for workouts, running and other performance activities.
This is the tee that you can go out for coffee in and then go to the gym in.

The Tri-Blend is a rise in standard from the soft feel T-shirts like the popular Gildan softstyle. Whereas the latter is slightly thinner at 153 gsm the Tri-Blend feels lighter and hangs softer at 159 gsm.

What is Tri-Blend?

Tri-Blend means made from three materials. In this case, with the Anvil Tri-Blend T-shirt, it is a blend of 50% polyester, 25% cotton and 25% viscose.
The combination of the three means this T-shirt outperforms its competitors. For activewear the sweat wicking properties of the polyester means it doesn’t become saturated. Contrarily, the viscose and cotton do absorb moisture but also this allows the garment to breath which makes it quick drying and cooling. Perfect for exercise and sport.

Don’t Shrink Your T-shirt

Some T-shirts are more prone to shrinking than others. This is a guide to choosing the right T-shirt. Get the maximum use out of your order and prevent turning your new custom designed T-shirt into a crop-top after the first wash.

Gildan’s Softstyle and the Iconic by Fruit of the Loom are Teepig’s two best selling T-shirts. Both of these T-shirts are great value for money.  Although they can tend to shrink if washed on a higher temperature. As they are both semi-fitted T-shirts they will already be quite hugging compared to a classic fit T-shirt.

Avoid Shrinking

The first step to avoid shrinking is to wash the shirt at 30 degrees and not any higher.
The Gildan Softstyle heather T-shirts have a higher percentage of polyester. The heather is the textured look on some T-shirts like the sports grey or the antique look. The higher percentage of polyester actually helps the T-shirt keep its shape after washes. It has even more softer than the full cotton varieties.
You could even choose a larger size than you’re used to. For example if you are a medium in most of your tops you could go for a large and you might find it fits better, especially after the first few washes.

Fruit of the Loom is generally on the smaller side anyway so choosing the next size up is often a wise decision.
The Fruit of the Loom Ringspun Premium T-shirt is a better quality and thicker T-shirt than the two previously mentioned. It also performs after 60 degree washes so will have less chance of shrinking. The Ringspun Premium is a great choice of T-shirt if you’re looking for value and quality as it will last longer than both the Iconic and the Softstyle.

The Gildan Hammer is a classic fit T-shirt and like the Ringspun Premium by Fruit of the Loom is the next step up in quality.
The Hammer is more true to your normal size. You don’t want to risk getting the next size up with this one – the fit will be just fine. The Hammer range also performs after multiple washes. It is an ideal choice for workwear as it will last.
